13th century midwife’s ensemble
Winter is coming and I need something warm to wear to a succession of cold weather events on the East Coast. At least two events in near eyeshot are mostly if not entirely outside, and one was so bitterly cold last year that I nearly took it off my calendar entirely this year. Of course, as soon as I finish a nice warm outfit, the signal to crank up the heat will go out into the universe, and we will have the warmest November on record…
I really like 13th century Christian clothing for comfort. As long as you stick to the lower/middling classes, the gowns tend to be a reasonable length, and they often have hanging sleeves that can be worn on for extra warmth. You can see my first attempt, which I am still wearing (13th century middle class Christian).
